Why and how do I whitelist the public IP addresses of Cloud-Runner so that I can access restricted services?

In order to give access to your GitLab runners for some services and resources, you might need to whitelist particular IP addresses. You must add our public IP addresses to your whitelist in order for your Cloud-Runner tasks to be able to access these restricted services.

Why is having an unchanging IP address important?

A static IP address is essential for Cloud-Runner users for several reasons:

  • Security: One way to guarantee that only authorized users can access restricted services, like internal APIs or databases, is by whitelisting particular IP addresses. You can lower the risk of unauthorized access by establishing a secure link between your Cloud-Runner GitLab runner and your restricted services using a static IP.

  • Consistency: If dynamic IP addresses are used, it's possible that the IP address will change, disrupting any services that depend on it. You can continue to have uninterrupted access to services that are limited if you have a static IP address because it offers a reliable connection point.

  • Simplified Management: It's made easier because you only need to setup your restricted services once with a static IP address, enabling seamless integration with your GitLab runner. You will save time and effort by not having to constantly update your whitelisting policies whenever your IP address changes as a result.

Cloud-Runner Public IP Addresses

Please add the following IP addresses to the whitelist for your service:

  • IPv4 : 51.159.170.226
  • IPv6 : 2001:bc8:1210:48e:dc00:ff:fe23:4459

Whitelisting Process

Depending on the program you're using, different steps may be required to whitelist IP addresses. Typically, the dashboard or configuration files for the application contain the necessary settings. For help with whitelisting IP addresses, refer to the service's instructions or contact their support staff.
